Each formula is considered as a whole — in relation to barrier support, compatibility, sensory character, and intended use.

Maison Orelisse does not select ingredients simply because they are fashionable or unfamiliar. We look for materials that serve a defined purpose: cleansing gently, supporting hydration, improving condition, contributing to barrier care, enhancing application, or protecting the integrity of the formulation.

Depending on the ingredient and formulation, increasing concentration may offer diminishing benefit while reducing tolerability or compromising the experience of use. The appropriate concentration is considered in relation to intended use, the formulation as a whole, available evidence, and the practical experience of repeated use.
Texture, spread, absorption, residue, fragrance, and packaging all influence whether a product is used consistently. For that reason, sensory experience is treated as part of product performance rather than as an afterthought.
| Quality | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Texture & Spread | Determines how easily a product integrates into a daily or travel routine. |
| Absorption | Affects layering, timing, and how a ritual fits around a day. |
| Residue | Influences comfort under clothing, fabric, or outdoor conditions. |
| Fragrance | Considered for tolerability first, character second. |
| Packaging | Portability, dosing, and protection of the formula inside. |

“Claims will be specific, supportable, and appropriate to the product category.”
The Method — Observe, Formulate, Refine, Ritualize — describes how we develop products, not a mandatory routine you must follow. Each Orelisse product is designed to work on its own, informed by that same process.
Maison Orelisse does not conduct invasive animal testing. Testing appropriate to each product category is carried out by independent dermatological and other specialists, and any product-use or tolerance evaluation will be appropriate to the product and described transparently once completed.
Ingredients are selected for a defined purpose within the formula — performance, comfort, stability, or experience — rather than for novelty or trend. See our Ingredient Philosophy for the full approach.
Yes. Full ingredient lists will be published alongside each product once formulations are finalised, in line with the standard for each market.
Not necessarily. Fragrance is considered for tolerability first, then character. Specific formulations and any fragrance-free options will be confirmed as products are finalised.
